Cheyenne—The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has released a draft revised version of its gray wolf management plan for public comment. The draft revised plan addresses many of the issues brought up in recent court decisions regarding removal of the Northern Rocky Mountain population of wolves from the federal Threatened and Endangered Species list.

Concurrently, the US Fish and Wildlife Service has reopened the public comment period on its proposal to delist the Northern Rocky Mountain population of wolves. That public comment period ends on November 28, 2008. Wyoming’s revised plan will be submitted to the US Fish and Wildlife Service during this comment period as part of Wyoming’s comments on the federal delisting proposal.

Revisions to Wyoming’s wolf plan are consistent with emergency rule changes to Wyoming Game and Fish Regulations....

For more than 30 years the Wild Sheep Foundation has been engaged in federal land policy issues that promote restoration of wild sheep and to their native habitats.

The most important piece of policy that could ensure the future existence of wild sheep on federally managed lands is being considered in Idaho. It is extremely important that you let the Payette National Forest know about your support for bighorn sheep. Your comments are needed – this is your chance to help “Put...

The Executive Order (E.O.) asks the Departments of the Interior and Agriculture to evaluate the effects of their actions on trends in hunting participation, consider the economic and recreational values of hunting, manage wildlife and wildlife habitats to expand and enhance hunting opportunities, and work collaboratively with state and tribal wildlife managers.

The E.O. calls for a comprehensive ten year Recreational Hunting and...

Cody, Wyoming USA – September 30, 2008. The Board of Directors of the Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF), formerly the Foundation for North American Wild Sheep, voted unanimously during their September Board meeting to return “The Sheep Show” to Reno, Nevada for the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Wild Sheep Foundation conventions.

“Sheep and mountain hunting enthusiasts worldwide labeled the FNAWS convention The Sheep Show for years and most consider Reno, Nevada the convention’s home.” Gray Thornton, the Foundation’s President and CEO stated about the move. “More dollars have been raised in Reno by FNAWS/WSF for wild sheep conservation than anywhere in North America - our members love Reno and Reno loves the Wild Sheep Foundation. We are thrilled to return to Reno in 2010, stay through 2012, and will launch an aggressive marketing campaign to...
